New York, N.Y.— Celebrations are hitting the road, a new survey has found, as people are looking to get away to commemorate a big birthday or toast a promotion. Nearly three-quarters of the 4,600 adults polled recently said they have taken a “celebration vacation” to reward their achievements or mark a milestone. Some people say these trips are a great way to catch up with their families, and some others answered that the vacations were a perfect opportunity to create a memory for someone else.
“The motivations … suggest that vacations are increasingly viewed as an appropriate way to either recognize or reward the participants for some event of great significance in their lives,” said Peter C. Yesawich, of Ypartnership, the Orlando marketing firm that wrote the survey.
The adults surveyed said their top destination picks for these special trips were Disney theme parks, Hawaii, Florida, Europe and the Caribbean. And, really, what’s better than a present too big to put a bow on?— Hilary Solan
