Mayan honey hotel products by advertisingelyse. |
If you’re like most travelers, you’ve come home from a weekend getaway or business trip with a few souvenirs you didn’t pay for—the tiny soaps, shampoos, and lotions provided by your hotel. No need to be ashamed if that’s the case, says Lynn Yaeger from Travel+Leisure. The hotel expects you take them, and hopes that its logo on the bottles will remind you of your stay once you’ve returned home.
But what about the bigger stuff like slippers, towels, and laundry bags? The line between accepting a courtesy item and pilfering hotel property can be blurry. Some hotels post signs indicating exactly what you can take home with you, others factor sticky fingers into their operating costs, and still others will simply charge you for anything missing at the end of your stay. Your best bet is to leave the bigger items alone, but that doesn’t mean everyone does. Here are the results from an MSNBC survey asking readers the following question:
What’s the biggest item you would steal from a hotel?
15.1% Wouldn’t steal anything
74.6% Just takes the soap, shampoo, and lotion
6.4% Towels
1.2% Slippers
2.7% Bathrobe
